Anlässlich des 200. Jahrestags der Erfindung der Fotografie präsentiert die ENSAD Dijon ZOOM, eine Ausstellung, die den vielfältigen Formen des fotografischen Porträts gewidmet ist.
Ob Einzel- oder Gruppenporträt, intim oder gesellschaftlich, real oder imaginär, frontal oder indirekt: Die versammelten Werke eröffnen neue Möglichkeiten, eine Person, eine Gruppe, eine Epoche oder ein Gebiet darzustellen. Sie hinterfragen, was die Fotografie sichtbar macht, aber auch, was sie außerhalb des Bildausschnitts lässt.
Die präsentierten zeitgenössischen Positionen treten in einen Dialog mit einer Auswahl fotografischer Archive aus der Bibliothek der Hochschule. Diese Gruppenporträts, die überwiegend in den 1950er- und 1960er-Jahren in den Ateliers oder bei Ausstellungen entstanden sind, machen eine Erinnerung sichtbar, deren Akteurinnen und Akteure zum Teil noch unbekannt sind. Das Publikum ist eingeladen, bei der Identifizierung der abgebildeten Personen und bei der Rekonstruktion dieser gemeinsamen Geschichte mitzuwirken.
Die Ausstellung vereint eingeladene Künstlerinnen und Künstler, die alle auf besondere Weise mit der ENSAD Dijon verbunden sind, sowie Studierende von gestern und heute. Sie ist bis zum 20. September 2026 zu sehen.
Vom Abteipalast des 18. Jahrhunderts zur École nationale supérieure d’art et design de Dijon
Die Gebäude des ehemaligen Abteipalasts wurden im 18. Jahrhundert vom Dijoner Architekten Charles Saint-Père errichtet, um die Mönche der Abtei Saint-Bénigne unterzubringen. Seit den 1926er-Jahren beherbergen sie die École nationale des Beaux-Arts, die heutige École nationale supérieure d’art et design de Dijon.
Als Nachfolgerin der im 18. Jahrhundert gegründeten Zeichenschule ist die ENSAD Dijon eine öffentliche Hochschule unter der Aufsicht des französischen Kulturministeriums.
Bei der Besichtigung dieses 1996 unter Denkmalschutz gestellten Gebäudes kann das Publikum insbesondere die Bibliothek und ihren historischen Bestand anhand einer Auswahl alter Zeichnungen, Fotografien und Archivalien entdecken. Der Rundgang führt anschließend durch den Garten, der sich in der Nähe des ehemaligen Schlafsaals der Benediktiner befindet. Dieses steht bereits seit 1924 unter Denkmalschutz.

Selected Portraits by Photographers at ENSAD
To mark the bicentenary of the birth of photography, ENSAD Dijon presents ZOOM, an exhibition devoted to the many forms of photographic portraiture.
Individual or collective, intimate or social, real or imagined, direct or indirect: the works brought together here challenge conventional ways of representing a person, a group, a period or a territory. They explore what photography reveals, but also what it leaves outside the frame.
The contemporary practices on display enter into dialogue with a selection of photographic archives from the school’s library. Produced mainly in studios or during exhibitions in the 1950s and 1960s, these group portraits reveal a collective memory in which many identities remain unknown. Visitors are invited to help identify the people depicted and contribute to reconstructing this shared history.
The exhibition brings together invited artists, each with a distinctive connection to ENSAD Dijon, as well as students past and present. It is on view until 20 September 2026.
From the 18th century abbey palace to the National School of Fine Arts
The buildings of the former abbey palace dating from the 18th century, built by the Dijon architect Charles Saint-Père to house the monks of the Saint-Bénigne abbey, have housed since the 1926s the National School of Fine Arts, currently ENSA Dijon. Heir of the drawing school founded in the 18th century, this higher education institution of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Higher Education and Research is the oldest of the seven national schools of art and design in the region. During the visit of the building classified as a historical monument in 1996, the public will discover notably the library and its heritage fund through an exhibition of old drawings, photos and archives. Visitors will also discover the garden, adjacent to the former dormitory of the Benedictines, classified as a historical monument since 1924.

Ritratti scelti di fotografe e fotografi all’ENSAD
In occasione del bicentenario della nascita della fotografia, l’ENSAD Dijon presenta ZOOM, una mostra dedicata alle molteplici forme del ritratto fotografico.
Ritratto individuale o collettivo, intimo o sociale, reale o immaginario, frontale o indiretto: le opere riunite propongono nuovi modi di rappresentare una persona, un gruppo, un’epoca o un territorio. Interrogano ciò che la fotografia rivela, ma anche ciò che lascia fuori campo.
Le pratiche contemporanee presentate dialogano con una selezione di archivi fotografici provenienti dalla biblioteca della scuola. Realizzati principalmente negli atelier o durante le mostre degli anni Cinquanta e Sessanta, questi ritratti di gruppo restituiscono una memoria ancora in parte anonima. Il pubblico è invitato a contribuire all’identificazione dei volti e alla ricostruzione di questa storia collettiva.
La mostra riunisce artiste e artisti invitati, ciascuno legato in modo particolare all’ENSAD Dijon, insieme a studentesse e studenti di ieri e di oggi. La mostra è visitabile fino al 20 settembre 2026.
Dal palazzo abbaziale del XVIII secolo alla Scuola nazionale di belle arti
Gli edifici dell'antico palazzo abbaziale risalente al XVIII secolo, costruito dall'architetto di Dijon Charles Saint-Père per ospitare i monaci dell'abbazia di Saint-Bénigne, ospitano dagli anni 1926 la Scuola nazionale delle belle arti, attuale ENSA Digione. Erede della Scuola di disegno fondata nel XVIII secolo, questo istituto di istruzione superiore del Ministero della cultura e del Ministero dell'istruzione superiore e della ricerca è la più antica delle sette scuole nazionali d'arte e design in regione. Durante la visita dell'edificio classificato come monumento storico nel 1996, il pubblico scoprirà in particolare la biblioteca e il suo patrimonio attraverso una mostra di disegni antichi, foto e archivi. I visitatori scopriranno anche il giardino, adiacente all'ex dormitorio dei Benedettini, classificato come Monumento storico dal 1924.

À l’occasion du Bicentenaire de la naissance de la photographie, l’ENSAD Dijon présente ZOOM, une exposition consacrée aux multiples formes du portrait photographique.
Portrait individuel ou collectif, intime ou social, réel ou imaginaire, frontal ou en creux : les œuvres réunies déplacent les manières de représenter une personne, un groupe, une époque ou un territoire. Elles interrogent ce que la photographie révèle, mais aussi ce qu’elle laisse hors champ.
Les pratiques contemporaines présentées entrent en dialogue avec une sélection d’archives photographiques issues de la bibliothèque de l’école. Principalement réalisés dans les ateliers ou lors d’expositions au cours des années 1950 et 1960, ces portraits de groupe donnent à voir une mémoire encore partiellement anonyme. Le public est invité à contribuer à l’identification des visages et à la reconstitution de cette histoire collective.
L’exposition réunit des artistes invité·es entretenant toutes et tous un lien singulier avec l’ENSAD Dijon, ainsi que des étudiant·es d’hier et d’aujourd’hui. Elle est présentée jusqu’au 20 septembre 2026.

Con motivo del bicentenario del nacimiento de la fotografía, la ENSAD Dijon presenta ZOOM, una exposición dedicada a las múltiples formas del retrato fotográfico.
Retrato individual o colectivo, íntimo o social, real o imaginario, frontal o indirecto: las obras reunidas proponen nuevas maneras de representar a una persona, un grupo, una época o un territorio. Cuestionan aquello que la fotografía revela, pero también lo que deja fuera de campo.
Las prácticas contemporáneas presentadas dialogan con una selección de archivos fotográficos procedentes de la biblioteca de la escuela. Realizados principalmente en los talleres o durante exposiciones de las décadas de 1950 y 1960, estos retratos de grupo muestran una memoria todavía parcialmente anónima. Se invita al público a contribuir a la identificación de los rostros y a la reconstrucción de esta historia colectiva.
La exposición reúne a artistas invitadas e invitados, todos ellos vinculados de una manera particular con la ENSAD Dijon, así como a estudiantes de ayer y de hoy. Podrá visitarse hasta el 20 de septiembre de 2026.
Del palacio abacial del siglo XVIII a la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes
Los edificios del antiguo palacio abacial que data del siglo XVIII, construido por el arquitecto dijonnais Charles Saint-Père para alojar a los monjes de la abadía Saint-Bénigne, albergan desde los años 1926 la Escuela nacional de Bellas Artes, actual ENSA Dijon. Heredera de la Escuela de Dibujo fundada en el siglo XVIII, esta institución de enseñanza superior del Ministerio de Cultura y del Ministerio de Educación Superior e Investigación es la más antigua de las siete escuelas nacionales de arte y diseño de la región. Durante la visita del edificio declarado monumento histórico en 1996, el público descubrirá la biblioteca y su fondo patrimonial a través de una exposición de dibujos antiguos, fotos y archivos. Los visitantes también descubrirán el jardín, contiguo al antiguo dormitorio de los benedictinos, clasificado como monumento histórico desde 1924.
