The monastery was founded in 1243 by Franciscan friars (also called Cordeliers «people of rope bound»). The monks played a considerable role in the life of Dijon and part of the buildings was assigned to the holding of the states of Burgundy. At the revolution the order is dissolved and the domain is fragmented, a good part of the buildings are demolished. In 1859 Father Lacordaire bought several buildings to restore a convent of the Dominicans. Important works take place: the chapel is created in the old refectory. The Dominican brothers settled permanently in 1923 until 2002 date of the departure of the eleven religious. The current buildings are of very different periods (13th to 20th century) Of the old monumental church built in 1318, only a few sections of walls remain integrated into neighbouring buildings (we can still see the ogives of the windows facing the reception and the apse). We can still admire the old sacristy and the chapter house of the XIII, a very beautiful stone
