Film by Robert Flaherty (1922) 1h18 With Allakariallak, Alice Nevalinga, Cunayou, Allegoo In Canada’s Far North, the daily life of an Eskimo family through the seasons. Presentation of Nanouk and his family in summer: arrival of the kayak paddled by Nanouk and from which all the members of his family, his wife, their two children and his sister-in-law successively come; sale at the local counter of furs harvested during the winter; amused listening to music played on a gramophone (he bites the record laughing); sea lion hunting; sea fishing. In winter: moving the family by dog sled, hunting white fox, construction of an igloo with a niche for puppies, exercise of the young son to hunt seals, installation for the night in the igloo. During a trip, the family is surprised by a snowstorm and finds refuge in an abandoned igloo while the dogs remain outside, curled up under the blizzard.
An original creation by Stefan Orins and Éric Navet. Screening followed by a discussion with the performers and Nicolas Melard (Archaeologist-Curator of Heritage). With the support of the Service régional de l'archéologie (Direction régionale des affaires culturelles Hauts-de-France) In partnership with the CCRA.
