Castle of 800 years, having crossed the history of France and still having its moat in water. Not far from Saint-Etienne, in the mountains of Forez, stands the castle of Saint-Bonnet-les-Oules. It stands there since the thirteenth century. Property of the counts of Forez, then of the counts of Auvergne, and of the family of Angérieu, which made in the fourteenth century a real castle. Because of political intrigues, the castle was sold in the early seventeenth century. It was acquired by a powerful Italian family, descended from the Medici and cousin of the King of France, Henri III, the Bartholys. The castle passed into the hands of two families in the eighteenth century, before being bought by the Vincent de Soleymieu, who restored the castle in a neo-gothic style in the nineteenth century. Their descendants are the current owners. The castle of Saint-Bonnet-les-Oules has been listed as a Historical Monument since 1984, but today needs many restoration operations. As a visitor, you c
