Meisterwerk der europäischen Kunst, von van Eyck für die Kathedrale von Gent in Belgien gemalt, das von den Deutschen begehrte Retabel des mystischen Lamms muss unverzüglich aus dem Land gebracht werden. Im Schloss von Pau fand er zwischen 1940 und 1942 unerwartet Zuflucht.
Diese unglaubliche Geschichte beleuchtet nicht nur die Enteignung von Werken in Kriegszeiten, sondern auch die Herausforderungen der Konservierung und Restaurierung.
