In 1842, the Englishman John Frederick William Herschel (1792-1871) developed a photographic process generating bluish pictures: the cyanotype. On your turn, come experiment this technique by making a contact print and a photogram, then discover the image made after exposure to the sun.
Your creation will take shape from negatives of photographs preserved in the museum’s collections, around the theme of plants. The chosen images can be associated with leaves, flowers, plants picked for their shapes and textures, in order to compose a unique work.
This process is dependent on the weather. The workshop is not offered in case of low light or rain, and replaced by the family animation "File away cameras!": Will you be able to put cameras in chronological order from 1900 to the 2000s?
