For a few months now, the Quai de la Libération has hosted the facsimile of a Merovingian boat, named Mona on July 14, 2024\. The project was not intended to build a Merovingian boat according to the techniques of the time, but to answer the questions that remained suspended after the archaeological excavation campaigns. It is the architecture of these boats, their nautical characteristics, the possible techniques of navigation that constitute the main body of this experience. If coherent answers can be provided to these subjects, the destination of use of these boats and their employment framework (river and maritime space) will be better identified. The experimental phase will therefore begin with navigation tests, load tests, etc. Do not hesitate to come forward if you are interested (e) in this experimental phase!
