This historic building, built in 1913, is part of the industrial history of the city related to spinning. The school closed in 2005 and since then different companies have occupied the premises. The Kitchen Print workshop occupies (since the end of 2022) the first two rooms, immediately to the right of the main entrance of the building.
The École supérieure de filature et de tissage de l'Est, created in 1905 by the president of the Eastern Cotton Union, Mr. G. Juillard-Hartmann, and the city of Epinal, specializes in the study of spinning and weaving cotton and other textiles. Initially located quai Jules-Ferry with the Ecole industrielle des Vosges, the establishment moved in October 1913 to new premises built specially at 85 rue d'Alsace, which include classrooms and workshops equipped with industrial equipment covering all sectors of a textile factory.
