The Notre-Dame d'Oelenberg abbey is a French Trappist abbey, founded in 1046 and located in Alsace near Mulhouse. At first very prosperous in the 13th century, it was then ruined by wars in the 14th century, and began a long period of instability and decline. It was not until 1825 that the abbey of Oelenberg came back to life and held on, despite the two destructions of the two World Wars! Today, 17 employees look after the maintenance of the abbey and manage the workshops for making incredible meringues, artisanal pasta, petits fours, cakes and pies from Linz. All with the very famous flour of the abbey produced with the wheat crops of the abbey. Since 2022, rapeseed oil has been cold-pressed within the abbey, and lentils are grown on its land.
