Our happy days
Some places do not belong to their owners but to their users and the uses for which they are intended, hospitality in this case. Montrieux-le-Hameau, also known as Montrieux-le-Vieux, is a place of welcome and hospitality since the 12th century that had a hostelry. This former low house of Chartreux to which was added a hotel-restaurant in the twentieth century welcomes since 1906 the passing guests, the local workers and all the tourists who came to discover the Provence of Daudet or Pagnol. The bucolic charm of the buildings of the ancient Chartreuse, the ruins of the hotel or the beauty and majesty of the natural landscapes are undoubtedly the reason. It is in this idyllic setting that families, friends, colleagues met to eat and have a good time together. Weddings, baptisms, communions, business or family meals were all opportunities to meet and immortalize these moments by photographs: «Our happy days»!
The whole team of Montrieux-le-Hameau invites you to come and testify, bring your photographs to build this memory and this living heritage of the 20th and 21st centuries. If we find photographs for sale on the internet, it is incomparably richer if the photographs are accompanied by annecdotes, names, date and reason of the situation. The photographs tell us more than a century of the life of a place that has been a center of local, even regional rejoicing. Come participate in this first step of a collective construction while discovering its history and write a new page of this open book. The photographs and testimonies collected will serve as the basis for a publication that remains to be defined and built collectively.
