About the location

Hôtel louvet-mayaud
1, rue du Maréchal Leclerc, 49400 Saumur
  • Maine-et-Loire
  • Pays de la Loire
The Louvet-Mayaud Hotel, built between 1838 and 1840 by Joly-Leterme, was one of the first large 19th century hotels built along the road route drawn in 1778 after the construction of the Fouchard Bridge. This Palladian-style house was occupied by the Toché and Louvet families. Following the marriage of one of the daughters of Charles Louvet, former mayor of Saumur and minister under Napoleon III, the house passes into the hands of the Mayaud family and then takes the name of hotel Louvet-Mayaud. During the 1939-45 war, the hotel was the seat of the Kommandantur. The park was unfortunately cut by the construction of the Municipal library.
