The imposing castle was built in the 15th century by Bertrand de Beauvau, friend of King René. It preserves today its towers and machicolations, as well as a pretty chapel that contains ochre paintings of the fifteenth century considered the most beautiful of Anjou for this time: angels carrying the instruments of the Passion and scenes of the life of the Virgin. The Grenier aux rentes with its imposing framework was once used to store the taxes imposed by the seigneurs on their subjects. The magnificent chapel, protected as historical monuments like the rest of the building, is worth a look for its richly painted vaults. It now hosts wedding receptions and seminars.
