First priory-parish priest dependent on the Augustinians of Nieul-sur-l'Autise, the church of Saint-Pierre is mentioned for the first time in 1306 in the Gauthier of Bruges. At that time, it had a nave and a single altar. Around 1680, a second span was built on the north side. Between 1731 and 1734, Prior Gusteau, a poet on occasion, had the church lengthened from 7 to 8 metres on the west side. In 1802, the building was said to be in “poor condition”. From 1845, the church of Saint-Pierre was rebuilt under the direction of the architect Jean-Firmin Lévêque. Like the church of Saint-Louis de La Roche-sur-Yon, a basilical plan was adopted in Doix.
