Chapelle Sainte Catherine de Clis
Village de Clis, 44350 Guérande
- Loire-Atlantique
- Pays de la Loire
Located in the heart of the village of Clis, the chapel Sainte-Catherine is an old chapel "frairienne", dependent on the factory of the church Saint-Aubin. The main entrance gate, side doors and tri-lobed bays date from the second half of the 15th century. The frame was remodelled in 1632 as evidenced by the date on an entrance. Partially destroyed during the Revolution, the chapel was restored around 1812\. The wooden altarpiece painted at the beginning of the 19th century frames an older painting by Saint Catherine of Alexandria. The side windows of the choir date from 1888 and represent paludiers in traditional costume.
