This hotel is named Château-Gaillard, then Moriceau de Cheusse, after the family that owned it from the late 17th century to the Revolution. This house was the seat of the seigneury of Château-Gaillard. The present building was built between 1811 and 1816 for André-Charles Dubois, former private receiver of direct contributions to Fontenay, and his wife Marie-Albertine Bousquet, on the two basement levels of the previous house, burned accidentally in 1795. The house is also known for its monumental portal decorated with a carved group representing Laocoon and his sons, Diana the huntress and Hercules and the Nemean lion. A photographic exhibition entitled «La rue s'invite au château» will be visible in the reception hall. The artist is David BASTEL. He is based in Charente-Maritime and works on street art and structured graphics.
