Guided tour of the Chapel of Our Lady of Mercy
Exceptional opening of the Chapelle Notre-Dame de pitié on the occasion of the European Heritage Days. Guided tour of the chapel with a volunteer guide of the parish. Scholars and historians have long thought that this chapel was built in 1610 by Marie Beaucaire, Baroness of Rié, for the rest and soul of her husband, Sébastien de Luxembourg, who died in 1569... But the last restoration campaign started at the end of 2007 allowed to discover old vestigers: trilobed windows, buttresses of angles... which indicate that the building was in fact of Gothic style originally. The chapel dates from the 14th or 15th centuries. However, many points remain to be clarified: exact plan of the original monument, more precise dating... In the future, excavations may allow us to shed light on this chapel...
