An ornithological reserve managed by the Département de la Vendée, the Cité des Oiseaux covers 56 hectares. Consisting mainly of two ponds (one of 23 hectares and the second of 7 hectares), this sensitive natural area is an essential place to observe a large amount of birds.
This reserve is ideally located since it is on one of the largest migratory routes North-South and benefits from the influence of the large wetlands of the region: the lake of Grand Lieu, the Marais Breton, the Bay of Bourgneuf, the Marais Poitevin and the Bay of Aiguillon.
