Cultural Center that brings together: the Museum-Library, the Old Fund, the Media Library, the Cinema, Exhibition rooms and animations.
Reopening in 2009: The Museum’s collections, separated from the heritage library for more than fifty years, were originally attached to the thousands of books in the old collection. The presentation of the most beautiful objects and collections of the Museum-Library are displayed in cabinets of curiosities staged as if we were in the 19th century. The natural history office of Abbé Elie Cottereau and the travel office of the Rear Admiral and Commander of the Far East Wing, Lucien Gigault de La Bédollière are fine examples. Finally, the presence in this place of a precious material called «Shroud of Saint-Calais» for having enveloped the relics of Carilephus, founder of the abbey, symbolizes very well the two origins of Saint-Calais: these religious origins and its revolutionary heritage.
