Château de la bellière
La Bellière, Champfrémont, 53370
The seigneury of La Bellière has been known since at least 1478\. A house was built by the Portes family in the seventeenth century. Brought as a dowry to the Vaucelles de Ravigny in 1695 its silhouette remains the same until Emmanuel-Alexandre de Vaucelles undertook a vast campaign of "updating the day" from 1798 to 1813: the building itself is raised and "lined", the interior decor is entirely taken over and the classic garden gives way to an English-style park, all under the direction of the architect DELARUE, d'Alençon. The remarkable interior decoration is close to the work of Percier and Fontaine.
