The Theatre. A little history...
The Christian Liger Theatre is located in the Pablo Neruda Centre, a sports complex designed by Nîmes architect Georges Chouleur and inaugurated in 1969 in place of the city’s former cattle market. Before the theatre was created, a 308-seat hall, called Hall 308, was already home to many concerts and performances. This room was closed in 1997 because it no longer met current standards. Its renovation, 10 years later, by architect Jean-Pierre Duval gave birth to the Christian Liger Theatre. Inaugurated in October 2007, the theatre bears the name of the Nîmois writer and cultural assistant under the second mandate of Jean Bousquet, Christian Liger, who died in 2002.
