The guided tour reveals to visitors the architectural elements and the traces of the defensive vocation of this thousand-year-old site: keep, spiral staircase, gate, bastion, archers, walkway, dwelling…
You will discover the castral chapel (13th and 17th centuries) restored in 2015: graffiti engraved on the walls testify to the passage of civilian and military prisoners locked in the dungeon, including Protestants, men and women. A 12min film and a video immersion immerse you in the past of this singular building.
The guide will take you to the top of the Bermond tower (12th-13th centuries) for a landscape reading: from the top of its 25 meters, the keep offers a breathtaking view of the city, the Vidourle valley, the Pic Saint-Loup and the Cevennes.

The castle, symbolized by the Bermond tower (12th-13th century) was transformed into a royal fortress in the 13th century under Louis IX, also known as Saint Louis. The buildings were transformed over the centuries following the civil wars between Catholics and Protestants. The remains of the defensive functions of the castle are still visible: tower, gate, loopholes, rampart and dwelling. Impressive spiral staircase leading to the top of the keep of 25 meters.
