Built on the site of the former Ostal del Consul, the town hall was, from the beginning, partly dedicated to the «Office of Conservation of the Privileges of the Fair». It is the only town hall in France built by order of the Council of State of the King: the importance of the fair justified the representation, in facade, of the double royal sun framing the coat of arms of the Crown. Formerly, the banners located above the suns carried the motto of the city: «CLARA FORO, FIDE CLARIOR» which means «famous by its Fair, illustrated by its fidelity». Opening proposed by the association Renaissance du Vieux Beaucaire.

In the banners above the suns, the motto of the city was once inscribed: CLARA FORO, FIDE CLARIOR, in other words, «famous by its Fair, illustrious for its fidelity».
