In the center of a park labeled «Remarkable Garden», overlooked by a forest classified «Biological Reserve» rich of a particularly valued archaeological heritage, the castle of Campaign, registered as Historical Monuments, of medieval origin, is totally reinvented in the nineteenth century. Between 1850 and 1880, Raoul de La Borie undertook the renovation of the former Château de Campagne whose oldest parts of the 12th century disappeared during the Hundred Years' War. The demolitions and new constructions of medieval inspiration clad on the existing buildings metamorphose the silhouette of the castle and give the whole a neo-gothic architectural unity, very fashionable in the second half of the nineteenth century. At the same time, the chatelain redesigned the park according to the aesthetics of the «English garden», and reorganized the operation of the estate.
