Musée du président Jacques Chirac
4 route du musée, 19800 Sarran
- Corrèze
- Nouvelle-Aquitaine
The museum of President Jacques Chirac houses the collection of objects offered to the President in the exercise of his two mandates (1995-2007), on the occasion of international ceremonies or anniversaries. Great recipient of gifts (he received up to 4 per day), Jacques Chirac made himself a donor by choosing to offer them to the departmental council of Corrèze.
The museum has been open to the public for 20 years. Built to best accommodate the 5,000 diplomatic gifts received by Jacques Chirac, it now changes its face.
In addition to this initial function, there is the desire to present to visitors what makes the person, even the character of the President of the Republic, and more particularly the history of the role, the powers of the eight heads of state of the Fifth Republic. The museum opened its doors in 2000: a set of buildings, designed as a contemporary hamlet, respectful of the surrounding heritage and designed by the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte.
