Château Lescombes - Centre d'art contemporain
198 avenue du Taillan, 33320 Eysines

The Château de Lescombes was built in the middle of the 16th century by the lords of La Plane. This first building was the victim of a fire and was rebuilt in the seventeenth century, in its present form. Only a few elements of the original abode remain.
After having known several owners, the estate was bought by the Duret family in 1720\. During the French Revolution, Pierre Duret, in favour of the new ideas of the philosophers of the Enlightenment, was elected president of the first Eysines City Council, whose first meetings were held at the Château Lescombes.
The Faure family, the last owner of the estate, sold the property to the City of Eysines in 1989\. It now houses a landscaped park, an educational vegetable garden, a 16th century pigeon house, a market gardening tools museum and a contemporary art centre.
