The Halle des Douves is the association in charge of the animation and the programming of the Marché des Douves, former retail market rehabilitated in laboratory of social and cultural innovation. It promotes meetings, exchanges, the collective creation of associations, actors and inhabitants and thus allows new forms of cooperation that value the diversity of cultural expressions while respecting fundamental human rights. Its vocation is to develop, experiment, share spaces and tools allowing more reciprocity and meetings. It accompanies and hosts more than 1500 events and meetings every year. Created in 2008, it brings together more than 170 member structures, about sixty inhabitants and a thousand supporters.
This year for the European Heritage Days and in connection with its project «living memory of the district», the association will highlight the exhibition «Raconte ton quartier». This collaborative project, co-constructed with the Living Memory Commission of the neighborhood, is a collection of archives, photos, stories, letters and many other wonders that the inhabitants wanted to share. Radio Douves, which also participates in this project, will set up during the two consecutive days listening to sound portraits of elders, but also young inhabitants of Capucins and Saint-Michel who have been captured in recent years. Walks will be organized to discover the riches of the area, with the viewpoint of Greeters bordelais.es. A traditional embroidery workshop from Latin America as well as an exhibition on the feast of death will be presented by the Mexicanos association in Bordeaux and the KLAC in one of our rooms. At the same time, the venue will host the Paf'Art festival, a festival of performing and visual arts in French sign language. Just as another exhibition will be presented, highlighting symbolic and transgender people who have marked the history and world of sport, with the association Ancres. Finally, it will be the opening of the travelling storytelling project Les Vies. Some concerts by our local artists and many other things are to be discovered, so come and meet the Marché des Douves and La Halle des Douves on September 16 and 17 from 10am to 8pm.
