«Archistoire» is a mobile application of cultural and heritage visits published by the Urban and Environmental Architecture Councils (CAUE). The first professionally developed national heritage and land discovery application, Archistoire is a digital tool for interpreting the natural and built landscapes around us.
The CAUE de Lot-et-Garonne has partnered with the Pays d'art et d'histoire du Grand Villeneuvois to create two stories across the territory. Discover the heritage and history of the bastide of Villeneuve-sur-Lot and the landscapes of the Lot valley, in an immersive, intuitive and playful way!

Over the past 50 years, the various archaeological excavations carried out on the site of the Esplanade Saint-Martin have provided information on the origins of the town. Indeed, the site seems to be known since the 19th century as a Gallo-Roman and medieval site. An archaeological survey, undertaken in July 1976 by a team of excavationrs of the region (Alain Dautant, Jean-François Garnier, Yves Marcadal), also showed 3 phases of occupation: the first in the Iron Age (between -800 and the 1st century BC), in the Gallo-Roman period (2nd century BC and 476) and in the Middle Ages.
