Guided tour of the headquarters of the International Union of Railways
UIC, 100 years of harmonization and progress in the service of international railway relations: visit of a part of the headquarters of the UIC where will be visible works of art and exhibitions of the centenary of the UIC realized with the funds of the Service Archives Documentation of the SNCF Group.
You will be welcomed at the headquarters of the International Union of Railways for a unique and commented tour in small groups. You will discover the history of railways through their international development from the first relations established by agreements between companies until the creation of the UIC. You will follow over time the technical progress and the harmonization of systems on an international scale made under the impetus of the UIC to facilitate again and again the railway journey across borders. You will discover in parallel written documents, plans or photos, many objects materializing technological advances. Your visit will be marked by a selection of posters retracing the dream of the distant journey that the train allows, the new offers offered until the awareness of the climate emergency. The places crossed during your visit will make you discover works of art offered by the members of the Union during the construction of the headquarters in 1963. Finally, a selection of historical films in "video" version, retracing some major dates of the modernization of the international railway services and the High Speed, will be proposed to you at the end of the visit. The majority of documents, images, posters and objects come from the archives documentation services of the SNCF group.
