The Elysée Palace will open its doors on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September 2023 on the occasion of the 40th edition of the European Heritage Days.
You can follow a tour route from the gardens to the Cour d'Honneur, and cross the various adjoining lounges such as the Salon Vert, the Salon des aides de Camp, the Salon Murat, the Salle des Fêtes, the Jardin d'Hiver, the main staircase and of course the golden lounge, historical office of the Presidents of the Fifth Republic.

Between 1718 and 1720, the architect Armand-Claude Mollet builds for the count d' Évreux a hotel which establishes(constitutes) the main body of the Elysée Palace, of classic style, following the French artillery of time(period). Property successively of the marchioness de Pompadour, Louis XV, Nicolas Beaujon who makes transform the hotel by Étienne-Louis Boullée, then of Louis XVI, the hotel of Évreux becomes the property of Napoleon Ier in 1809, who will sign it his(her) abdication on June 22nd, 1815\. On December 12th, 1848, the National Assembly assigns national Élysée " as residence of the President of the Republic. The palace is entirely renovated under Napoleon III by Joseph-Eugène Lacroix. Closed between June 13th, 1940 and 1946, the palace finds its presidential function(office) with Vincent Auriol. The visitors will enter by the railing(bar) of the Cockerel, located at the bottom of gardens, before penetrating successively into the different lounges(shows), of which the lounge(show) Murat where is held the Council of Ministers every Wednesday, and the room of parties(holidays) which receives State dinners. The visitors will take then the stairs leading to the office(desk) of the President of the Republic before standing out(going out again) from the palace by the main courtyard. The necklace of great master of the Legion of Honor, presidential cars and objects offered to the President of the Republic during his travels(movements), in particular by other heads of state, will be exposed(explained) to the public.
