Jiří Menzl - born 85 years ago - is an icon of Czech (Soviet) cinematography. Oscar winner at only 28 for the film "Closely Watched Trains" - Best Foreign Film (1968) - his career is momentarily interrupted by the arrival of the Soviets invading Czechoslovakia. To celebrate the birthday of Jiří Menzl, we propose the screening of the film "A capricious summer" (Rozmarné léto), from 1968: During a rainy summer, the nonchalance of a group of aging friends is disturbed by the arrival of an itinerant magician and his assistant, the beautiful Anna. - Based on the novel Capricious Summer by Vladislav Vančura. - With Rudolf Hrušínský, Vlastimil Brodský, František Řehák, Jana Preissová, Jiří Menzel.
