The heritage of Saint-François-de-Sales
The history of our church is closely linked to that of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés which has continued to develop since the Middle Ages to become the city we know today.
Although built in 1850, the chapel of the Adam family (which gave its name to the district of Adamville) was not erected as a parish until 1907, by decision of the Archbishopric of Paris.
Entering the church of Saint-François-de-Sales of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, the visitor can only be struck by the brightness that floods the building. He quickly understands that it is the stained glass windows that allow daylight to enter in abundance. These same stained-glass windows, like the murals of the churches of the Middle Ages, have a didactic vocation. In addition to letting the sun’s rays pass by magnifying them, they are windows on exceptional lives, especially those of the saints who have succeeded one another over the ages.
Our visit aims to allow all curious to understand the teaching of stained glass, through the description of each of them, to discover their meaning, obvious or hidden.
