The Académie d'Agriculture de France, founded in 1761 by Louis XV, came from the Société d'Agriculture de la Généralité de Paris then from the Société Royale d'Agriculture.
Composed of some of the most eminent personalities in the field of agronomy (Buffon, Lavoisier, Malesherbes, les Vilmorin, G. Washington , T. Jefferson, Pasteur, A. Young ), the AAF is currently composed of 120 full members and 180 corresponding members, 60 members and 60 foreign correspondents.
Since its creation, its documentary collection has been made up of rare books that reflect the tryptic of its activities: "Agriculture, Food, Environment" and since its foundation.
