Pavillon Duhamel
Square Brieussel-Bourgeois 78200 Mantes-la-Jolie

Built by Maurice Nalet and inaugurated in 1909, the Pavillon Duhamel presents an architecture that combines both the technical progress of the nineteenth century, through the use of new building materials and a permanence of tradition with recourse to the forms of the past, which results in a neo-classical architectural style. It was built at the request of Victor Duhamel and his wife, to house their collections. These works were transferred to the City on condition that the building retain its function as a museum. In 1940, the museum was closed due to war. The collections were then crated and kept safe. They are currently on display and kept in the Hôtel-Dieu museum. After the war, the building underwent several postings. It then hosted a library, then exhibitions and finally a school of music. Today, the pavilion is mainly devoted to a program of conferences, temporary exhibitions and cultural activities.
