Discovery of the Maison Jean Cocteau (Free visit, travelling saxophonist and contemporary dance performance)
Both filmmaker, novelist, playwright, screenwriter, painter, sculptor, etc... Jean Cocteau has always seen himself as a simple poet, charged with revealing the magic of his daily life. For the 60th anniversary of his death, the Maison Jean Cocteau invites you to immerse yourself in his intimacy during the 2023 European Heritage Days. How are these days organised? From the opening, you will be free to walk in the different spaces of the property, our mediators are of course at your disposal to tell you their many secrets. The afternoon will be punctuated by several speakers who will enrich your experience. At first, during these two days from 2pm, you can enjoy the Jazz solos of our travelling saxophonist who will try to plunge you back into the Roaring Twenties (1920-1930). As a great amateur himself, Cocteau said of this music that it was comparable to poetry. That is, a free and sensitive expression that has: «crossed the language wall and that in all countries raises enthusiasm». Like him, you can therefore let yourself be carried away by the notes throughout your discovery. Then, Saturday at 2pm and 3pm, the contemporary dance company «2minimum» will perform two performances with the theme of breath. The latter, will be treated here as the ultimate memory of all the strong moments lived in these places. Once a living and creative environment, the house will thus be briefly transformed into a new refuge, which to the sound of a cello will mix both fragments of the past and your emotions of the present. We are waiting for you many and many!
