A conference on the artist Jean Dunand on the occasion of the inauguration of the renovated Salon des laques. On the occasion of the inauguration of the Salon des laques, which once again presents to the public the lacquer panels made by Jean Dunand to adorn the reception area of the Musée des colonies in 1931, this conference allows to discover one of the major figures of Art Deco, Jean Dunand (1877-1942), prolific artist who brought the art of lacquer to levels of refinement and virtuosity unparalleled. Initiated by a Japanese master lacquerer in Paris in 1912 to this traditional technique, Jean Dunand made it his favorite material, thus becoming a real marker of the Art Deco style. At the end of the conference, the public will be able to admire at their original location the ten lacquer panels, recently restored, exceptional by their dimensions and their sumptuousness. Speaker: Laëtitia Ferreira, head of the architectural conservation department of the Palais de la Porte Dorée.
