Food and Sport at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty will open its doors to the public on Saturdays from 12 pm to 7 pm and on Sundays from 10 am to 6 pm.
The opportunity to discover and share the richness of our architectural and food heritage. The heritage of sport, theme of this 40th edition, will not be forgotten and will be promoted by the national network of sports practices in agricultural education.
An architectural heritage steeped in history...
Come and discover the Villeroy hotel, the Sully room and the arcades of 78 rue de Varenne, buildings assigned to the ministry in charge of agriculture since 1881.
Not to be missed!
• The Statue of Parmentier - Antoine Augustin Parmentier, French military pharmacist and nutritionist and precursor of food chemistry and agrobiology, known for promoting the nutritional virtues of potatoes;
• Sully Hall - Frescoes by Canabel student Paul Sinibaldin celebrating commerce, industry (1898) and agriculture (1901).
... and a living garden
In the heart of the 7th district of Paris, a magnificent classical garden will become a playground during these European Heritage Days and will host playful short workshops around the practice of rugby and badminton. These activities will be organized and supervised by young students of agricultural education also licensed in these sports.
Not to be missed!
• The vegetable garden: tomatoes, cabbage, squash, salads, chives, basil, oregano, verbena... Pierre, the Ministry’s chief gardener, will provide valuable advice for gardening in the countryside and the city.
• The largest tree in Paris: a plane tree in the Orient, more than 100 years old, watches over the park of the Hôtel de Villeroy, and measures more than 30 meters high.
A market for local products…
The farms of agricultural high schools now honour this unmissable event every year and take the opportunity to show their products to the public.
Come make your market at the ministry! Charcuterie, wines, cheeses, pâtés, foie gras and champagnes will be on offer all weekend.
