Chapelle Saint-Pierre

The hamlet of Wé where the Saint-Pierre de Wé chapel is located is part of the commune of Yvois Carignan since ancient times.
It is built on the site of the first church dating from the 15th century. A stone altar confirms this period. It has 18th century Baroque furniture, partly saved outside the chapel for security reasons.
The furniture is designed as a grey and white theatre decor, delicately enhanced with touches of gold. We must also see the reverse side, the reverse side of this pious setting that perfumes the theatre, the frame, the carpentry… At the center of this triumphal arch, culminates the tabernacle, seat of the «Real Presence», honored with a royal crown. The whole background of the choir is a baroque song, a hymn to God of course, demonstrative as was the piety of the Counter-Reformation which accumulates symbols, volutes, flowers, fruits, strange faces, cherubs, suns, in a clear and imposing symphony that touched the hearts of the faithful.
