L'envol

The weekend of the European Heritage Days is the last to discover the exhibition "L'Envol" of artists Lora K and Marc Colonna d'Istria at the botanical garden of Sedan. The poet Lora K, and the visual artist Marc Colonna d'Istria worked together to give life to a poetic stroll in the botanical garden. Poems and plastic works intertwine to allow the visitor to dream and escape.

In 1875, an urban plan was drawn up by architect Édouard Depaquit, which provided for the development of the spaces liberated by the destruction of the fortifications. It was in this context that the botanical garden was created in 1891, under the leadership of René Richer, a Sedan landscape architect. It is home to interesting rock constructions and many rare species including a bald cypress, a pavier, a maple from Montpellier, a lacinié linden and remarkable magnoliers from Soulange-Bodin.
