The House of the Counts of Champagne is one of the few vestiges of the medieval architecture of Reims and the living testimony of the flamboyant dynasty that reigned over Champagne between 956 and 1284.
Exceptional place of history and architecture, the House of the Counts of Champagne formed in the Middle Ages an integrated and unique ensemble with the "House of Musicians", whose niches in front sheltered 6 statues of musicians, considered among the most beautiful of the secular art of medieval Europe.
Bombed during the Great War, the House of the Counts of Champagne almost disappeared. The Taittinger family bought it and began its restoration, under the direction of the Ministry of Fine Arts.
