Ile Olive
Chemin de l'Ile des Ecluses, 10400 Nogent-sur-Seine
Pleasant wooded park surrounded by water, Olive Island offers a space for walking and relaxation «nature» of half a hectare near the city center. Accessible from a narrow footbridge above the waves or to the other extreme from a lock still in operation, Olive Island is the green lung of the Nogentais. Former Seine Island, it holds its current shape by the construction in 1841 of a new lock. In 1917, bequeathed by the widow of a former Mayor of the commune, Doctor Olive, it became property of the City of Nogent-sur-Seine. An adapted management mode and small facilities allow to find several atmospheres: wooded natural space, park area, children’s play area, meadows. A botanical trail welcomes you and accompanies you along the trails with about twenty descriptive panels of the species of the island.
