The guerrillas stayed in this maquis from June 1944 to August 1944, when they liberated Nogent-le-Rotrou, three days before the arrival of the Americans. For two months, 172 Second World War Resistors lived there, while they sabotaged railway lines and bridges. The memory of this maquis is maintained by the ARAMP (Association of Former Resistance and Friends of the Plainville Maquis).
