Photographic exhibition

The silhouette of Chambord is recognizable between a thousand: its towers form a remarkable whole, which Chateaubriand compared to the hair of a woman blown in the air by the wind, offering this castle with the false appearance of fortress the grace of a palace of a thousand and one nights. Despite its apparent strength, Chambord is a colossus with feet of clay that requires great care: its stone is fragile and the beams of its framework suffer from recurring waterproofing problems.
Fifty years after the last restoration of the roofs, the health of the lanterns required the launch of a new renovation that was completed last June. In the summer of 2022, this large-scale construction site hid the six high towers of the castle behind the safety nets of… 108km of scaffolding!
This hallucinated vision gave the idea to launch a first big photo contest: «Chambord dans les tours». Each participant, amateur (e) or professional (le), had to send a picture on which appeared all or part of the scaffolding. In four and a half months, nearly 800 people competed, an unexpected success proof of the inspiration generated by this vast project where photographers often sought a beauty revealed by a detail, a situation or a studied angle of view, sometimes playing with the sculptures of the artist Pablo Reinoso, exhibited in the French gardens.
A part of the prize list of the competition, gathered here, forms a varied whole, ranging from detail to wide plan, from dawn to dusk, from foggy weather to clear skies… testifying to the fascination that still inspires and (for) always the castle of François 1st.
