You never know too much about barrels… Yet, without them, how could wine, cider or brandy be preserved? To know everything about coopers and their know-how, go to the Cooperage Museum. Set up in a vineyard farmhouse, you can share the daily life of farmers and winemakers of yesteryear…
Until the end of the 19th century, the vine was the main crop in Chécy, hence the development of cooperage and the profession of cooper-winemaker. The museum was born in 1989 from this glorious past, thanks to Solange Dufour, descendant of a family of coopers.
The museum presents:
Each stage of the manufacture of a barrel, A cellar with its press, its barrels and its equipment of racking, The history of the culture of the vine and the life of the coopers in Chécy,
