The only temple built after 1950 in the Burgundian part of the region, the temple of Mâcon is the work of Oskar and Fernande Bitterli. The architects paid particular attention to its layout and the design of its furniture, adapted to the needs of the Protestant cult. Guided tours of the place, exceptionally open during the European Heritage Days, are offered by the Inventory and Heritage Service of the Burgundy-Franche-Comté Region.

About the location

Temple protestant de Mâcon
32 rue Saint-Antoine, 71000 Mâcon
  • Saône-et-Loire
  • Bourgogne-Franche-Comté
The foundation stone of this religious building was laid on November 17, 1963, during a ceremony held in the presence of the prefectural and municipal authorities, as evidenced by the scroll that was buried in the foundations of the building. Then the Temple of Macon was delivered to the Parish Community in October 1967\. According to the manuscript of the pastor Ami Bost, the first reformed church of Mâcon dates back to the year 1561\. Admire an organ enhanced by the acoustics of an excellent quality of this building.
