It is in 1898 when is inaugurated this new room of parties(holidays) and will serve in numerous uses(practices): dances, feasts, etc. In 1958, after works of restoration(catering), the room intends(designs) only for theatre and musical performances. In Italian-style theatre with its galleries and its changing rooms(boxes), a frontal theatre adorned by two balconies took the place. With high quality shows and local creations of high level, the theatre of Villefranche acquires a similar reputation to that of theatres of Lyons. In 1990, this structure is then 35-year-old and is not any more to receive different events(demonstrations) in good conditions. That is why the City confides(entrusts) the renovation of the building(ship) to the architect Jean Claude Rerolle and to the stage designer Igor Hilbert. This transformation(processing) brings to the building an imposing facade where the contemporary unites harmoniously with the hundred-year-old architecture of the building(ship), creating an image so symbol of a subtle balance between tradition and modernity. Twenty years later, this theatre becomes apparent as being before any a public, open place to all, a place where they try to end certain cultural exclusion, place of creation.
