Probably built on the site of a Roman temple and then a Romanesque church of which only the base of the bell tower remains, the Church of Saint Julien represents one of the rare testimonies of the religious Gothic architecture of the north of the Ardèche. Consecrated collegiate on 16 June 1316 by the Bishop of Valencia, William II of Roussillon, it was rebuilt until the beginning of the 16th century and underwent episodes of the Wars of Religion and the Revolution. The building is built according to a basilical plan with several side chapels.Its original location at the edge of the Rhone and at the foot of the feudal castle made famous by the cardinal of Tournon (1489-1562), minister of Francis I, founder of the college in 1536 and great patron, gives it a remarkable character. Among the masterpieces of this church, the wall paintings of the chapel of the Holy Sepulchre today dedicated to the Penitents (5,80mx6m), located in the oldest part of the building, is founded by the merchant T
