The Funerary Service and five actresses propose to revive 5 remarkable women buried in the cemetery, the time of the walk-performance.

The Funeral Service through this project responds to the need to showcase our matrimoine, to connect with the past to understand the present, to weave the link between the dead and the living and to question us about this collective memory, and its links with the construction of each-es today.
Laure Fontvieille’s project, «Celles d'en-dessous» proposes here that those on the top bring back to life the time of the representation those below.
The stories of those below have much to teach us.

The South Cemetery, established in the place called «Kritt», is the oldest of the cemeteries of the Neuhof.
It was created around 1800 to receive the deceased from the districts of Neuhof and Stockfeld. Its official name of «South Cemetery» was given to it shortly before the First World War at a meeting of the City Council held on June 26, 1912, when it was decided to increase its area and create new sections.
Slowed down by the war, the project was not implemented until 1919 and was not completed until 1921\. A new extension was granted by the Lower Rhine Prefecture in 1962, bringing the area occupied by the cemetery to more than 11 ha. The South Cemetery is open to the inhabitants of Neuhof-Stockfeld and the southern districts of Strasbourg, as well as persons residing west of the Polygon. Besides the civilian tombs, it also has several military squares, including that of the Strasbourg Garrison.
