The church was built in 1910 for the suburb "Montagne-Verte-Elsau" which has 57% of Catholics among its 4000 inhabitants. It is located in "the second radius of the fortifications", military zone where any building must be razed by its owner if the city is declared in a state of defense. For this reason, the architect Joseph Beck of Frankenthal designed a half-timbered church, made of wood and bricks. In six months, the church will be built in the middle of meadows, on land bordered by the Schirmeck road and the Grünewarthbaechel. Despite its precarious status, the church is worthy of interest with its facade housing the statue of the patron saint, bishop of Strasbourg in the 6th century, its triple nave ending with a straight choir and its bell tower 30 meters high.
