Discovery of the gallery and garden of Max Sauze
The Garden of Eguilles, a marriage between the natural and the artificial It is a garden of atmosphere, of 950 m2. Garden of silence in the heart of the village. Wild. But also tame. The cohabitation of works, a hundred, and plants is the main concern of the artist. The vegetation is responsible for partitioning spaces where the works are hidden. Repaired trees, blue, dressed in imaginary foliage. We enter into the marvelous. Plants imitate works, which by friendship grant them a certain resemblance. They are not there by chance and choose their place when the time comes. It could be the kingdom of snails who, disappeared without leaving an address, left their shells there. And the well-ordered shells, glued in tight rows on iron rods, balloons, wire mesh give rise to a whole collection of poetic constructions that play with lightness with the vegetable world. Elsewhere books have given their page to art. For years they have been working through rain, sun and wind. They simply go back to wood. Here, things are obvious. Obvious because hollowed out, emptied of the superfluous, elementary, made to the most just. Nature around does the same thing, it appears there and not there, it has its reasons and the works adjust. The visits are not guided but the possible encounter with the artist is a complement that makes us better understand what, in art, will remain still a mystery.
