Free tour of the Engineering Museum
The collection of the Museum of Engineering is based on period models or reconstructed models of various devices and equipment used by the units of the weapon over time. Paintings, maps, engravings, paintings, uniforms and weapons, ranging from the origins to the present day, are exhibited in rooms where sound devices, videos and animations, sometimes in 3D, complete the museum and didactic apparatus. In total, more than 1,000 historic pieces are on display. The permanent exhibition area is divided into three distinct spaces: - An impregnation chamber allowing the public to understand the nature, richness and diversity of the field of action of the engineer; - A chronological gallery presenting the history of Génie in relation to the major events and technical developments that have shaped the landscapes, identity and culture of France; - A thematic area illustrating the traditional missions of Génie: fight, build, rescue. The museum addresses the historical, technological, scientific and civic fields without forgetting the duty of memory. In this context, it enriches its links with the world of teaching and develops tools for valuing collections for the benefit of a young audience.
